THE OVERLAND TRACK.
Australia’s most iconic wilderness walk from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair.
I have been to Cradle Mountain many times over the last 55 years and have always
loved the peace, beauty and tranquility of this World Heritage Area.
I also had a great desire to walk the 70 kilometre Overland Track but realized I was not
strong enough to carry a pack with food, sleeping bag, tent and clothes for six days.
That is when Cradle Huts came to mind and a booking was made and I set off on
Saturday 24th April 2010 for the walk. It was pouring with rain when we left Waldheim
and it did not let up and we were literally blown of the duck boards on the plains after
Kitchen Hut. Whilst the weather was shocking, the tracks rivers of water, everyone still
enjoyed this beautiful area, the only down side to the weather was the inability to
capture the beauty of the park on camera.
Cradle Huts is a superb way to walk the Overland Track, to enjoy a hot shower at the
end of the day, three course meal and top Tasmanian Wines is the way to go,
congratulations to Cradle Huts on their magnificent walk.
